Patient 2: Moderate Motor Involvement

This wonderful and fun patient is only 9 weeks post operative in the follow up pictures. Her involvement would be characterized as moderate. Before surgery, she used her hand only if she really needed to (or was told to) as its position prevented it from being very useful. Before surgery, she could she could place an object in the hand momentarily with the other hand or hold an object down by pressing her arm and forearm against it. The surgical goal is to have the hand as more active assist, which means to actively hold an object while the other hand manipulates it or hold something while the other hand completes a task. She is still working hard to make progress and her scars are still light red. She is making sure to keep them covered with sunscreen at camp!
